- Experience with titratable gtts: Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, Levophed.
- Chest tube management, traches, and Peritoneal Dialysis.
- Ability to PASS an EKG competency exam prior to arrival.
Description:
The patient population includes AFIB/RVR, DKA, HTN, COPD, ARF, s/p Heart Caths, etc.
The unit also serves as a Stroke Unit overflow for CVA/TIA in need of TPA administration and spinal surgical cases such as ACDF and Laminectomy.
The patient ratios are RN: 1:3 and CNA: 1:7.
Support on the unit includes a charge nurse who may have a patient assignment, in-house phlebotomy, IV/VAT team available from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., resource nurse staffing dependent, respiratory therapy in-house, and hospitalist available in-house.
Centralized Tele Monitoring is available in the unit.
The charting system used is Meditech Expanse, with Alaris IV Pumps and Pyxis for medication dispensing.
Floating may be required to units such as Stroke and MedSurg with patient ratios of 1:5-6.
Scheduling requires a weekend rotation every other weekend.
Night shift will follow a mandatory 5/2 schedule, working 5 on, 5 off, 2 on, 2 off.
Requests for time off can be made for up to 7 days, with an extension of 1 week for every full week requested off.
Holiday expectations include working 2 to 3 holidays during the contract.
Scrub color is pewter, with gray, white, or black t-shirts acceptable, and jackets must be gray or black.
Badges must be worn above the waist and in full view.
