Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN with orthopedic spine experience for a night shift position at a Level I trauma teaching hospital.

Details

  • 26-bed adult orthopedic spine unit specializing in post-surgical care for laminectomies, spinal fusions, and discectomies
  • Telemetry-capable unit with integrated pain management, physical therapy, and mobility support
  • Patient diagnoses include Med/Surg, Tele, cardiac, low-risk ACS, TIAs, diabetes, hypertension, COPD, dehydration, chest pain, DVT, and PE
  • Performs special procedures including bedside lumbar puncture, post-Cath care (radial/femoral), post-surgical care, post-renal biopsy, CT Angio, and Heparin drips
  • Patient ratios of 1:5-6
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
  • Every other weekend requirement (6 weekend shifts)
  • Floating to other qualified units or campuses required based on census needs

Requirements

  • Active SC or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • 1+ years of recent experience in a similar unit preferred
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Dysrhythmia certification preferred
  • Orthopedic experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide specialized nursing care for post-operative orthopedic spine patients including pain management and mobility support
  • Work within a Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, the only one of its kind in the region
  • Located in a 641-bed regional community teaching medical center
  • Orientation occurs every Monday with annual compliance training required
  • Pre-assignment testing and modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted; radius rules apply based on distance from facility
  • RTO, block, and special scheduling requests must be submitted at time of booking and are subject to facility approval
  • Facility call-off policy allows 1 shift per 2 weeks
