Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring at least 2 years of MS/Tele experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

• MS/Tele unit caring primarily for Orthopedic Trauma patients
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 1900-0730 with weekend rotation (1 in 3)
• Willing to consider 4x12 schedule if traveler prefers
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• Floating required as needed
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele experience required within the last 3 years
• Epic EMR experience required, preferably within the past 12 months
• Trauma Level II experience required, Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Must pass a telemetry exam prior to starting with strict passing criteria
• Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and rapid response protocols required
• Experience with IV therapy, central line and PICC line management, and blood product administration required
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy care preferred
• Experience with wound care, wound vac, and isolation precautions/PPE required

Additional Information

• Care for orthopedic trauma patients including pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury cases
• Must pass a telemetry exam with high passing criteria, including 100% identification of lethal rhythms
• Up to three attempts allowed to pass the telemetry exam, with a cardiac interpretation review course required after a second failed attempt
• Located at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital
• Must reside within 50 miles of the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• First-time travelers not accepted for this role
