Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele oncology unit requiring 2+ years of current acute care RN experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Med/Surg Oncology unit with continuous cardiac monitoring for chemotherapy patients
  • Patients include soft tissue malignancies receiving diagnostic services, chemotherapy, and symptom management
  • Caseload also includes comorbidity management and heavy focus on infection prevention and fall protocols
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • 12-hour rotating shifts (days, nights, or a combination) reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
  • Shift assignments subject to change based on staffing priorities
  • Floating required to units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Uses B450 monitors with GE telemetry system, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, current within the last 12 months and in the specialty applied for
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience accessing and managing ports
  • Arterial line management experience
  • Blood product administration experience
  • Central line and PICC line care/management experience
  • IV start and IV therapy/phlebotomy skills
  • Experience assisting with chest tube insertion/removal and management (Emerson/PleurEvac)
  • High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and BiPAP/CPAP management experience
  • Interpretation of ABGs
  • Tracheostomy care/management experience
  • PCA and insulin drip titration experience
  • Chemotherapy administration experience preferred
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Deliver direct patient care to oncology patients requiring telemetry monitoring and chemotherapy administration
  • Collaborate with care team on infection prevention and fall prevention protocols
  • Candidates should come with a willingness to learn and grow their nursing practice
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of the health system are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this facility
  • RTO required with submission and must be built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting as soon as the contract is signed due to strict credentialing timelines
  • First-time travelers are welcome, as previous travel experience is preferred but not required
