Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Tele RN with oncology and telemetry experience for a cancer hospital assignment requiring current acute care experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Work on a Med/Surg Tele unit within a cancer hospital setting
• Care for oncology patients requiring telemetry monitoring
• 12-hour Day or Night shifts available (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30), 3x per week
• Epic charting system used
• Teaching hospital experience preferred

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required, current within the last 12 months and in the specialty applied for
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, accessing and managing ports, and starting/maintaining IVs required
• Experience administering chemotherapy preferred
• Experience managing BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), and tracheostomy care preferred
• Cardiac monitoring skills required, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• On-unit telemetry monitoring experience preferred
• Experience with PCA medication administration preferred
• Experience titrating insulin drips preferred
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a Charge RN or higher; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to oncology patients on a telemetry-monitored unit, including chemotherapy administration and cardiac dysrhythmia management
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply and encouraged to come with a willingness to learn and grow their nursing practice
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for a travel assignment once away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel assignments at any of its hospital locations
• RTO must be submitted with the contract and built in, limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract; those outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
