Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift float pool position at a teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of MS/Tele experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

  • MS/Tele unit within a hospital setting
  • Float pool position with flexibility to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
  • Patient ratios of 1:4-5
  • Availability required for weekdays and some weekends, including holidays
  • Uses EPIC EHR system

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BCLS certification required
  • ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a MS/Tele setting required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Proficient in IV starts and telemetry monitoring
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
  • Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care preferred
  • Experience with neurological conditions including CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, and traumatic brain injury preferred
  • Experience managing cardiac drips, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response/code team activation
  • Experience with wound care/wound vac and IV insulin protocols
  • Experience with ortho trauma and total joint replacement preferred
  • Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure preferred
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required

Additional Information

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to Med/Surg Tele patients in a teaching hospital environment
  • Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a manager/director or charge RN, coworker references not accepted
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for a travel assignment once away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system
  • Requested time off must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Candidates must complete an Ohio fingerprinting process promptly upon signing the contract, with in-state travel or a mailed packet required depending on distance from Ohio
