Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Medical ICU RN with a minimum of 2 years of MICU experience and Epic proficiency for a night shift assignment.

Details

• Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) setting
• Patient ratios of approximately 1:1-2
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Schedule may rotate every 4 weeks between day and night shifts
• Epic EMR experience required
• Care for patients with multisystem organ failure, respiratory failure, COVID, sepsis, post-cardiac arrest, DKA, liver failure, and renal failure
• Utilizes continuous glucose monitoring for hyperglycemia management
• Utilizes externalized IV pumps for COVID+ patients
• Equipment used includes NxStage CRRT, Alaris IV pumps, GE cardiac monitors, and GE ventilators

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA certifications only)
• Minimum 2 years of Medical ICU experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Proficient in IV starts
• Experience with telemetry required
• Competency with ventilator management required
• Skilled in continuous IV sedation administration
• Experience interpreting and managing cardiac dysrhythmias
• Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN reference is acceptable for the second reference; coworker references are not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct care to critically ill medical ICU patients requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions
• Boom lift equipment available in each patient room
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
• RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract due to strict compliance timelines
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
