Job Summary:
Medical Surgical (MS) Telemetry registered nurse position available in Madison, WI. This role involves providing high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced acute care unit that focuses on general internal medicine and infectious disease management. The selected candidate will join a 28-bed unit with opportunities to care for patients with complex medical diagnoses, including specialty populations within the Special Pathogens program.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Rotating shift, 12-hour shifts, 0700-1930 and 1900-0730, with every other weekend rotation and holidays as needed. Minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Two years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years in the relevant specialty, WI Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact RN license, BLS certification from the American Heart Association, and possession of a telemetry certification exam passing with a score of 80% or higher.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with blood product administration, central line care/management, interpretation of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, IV insulin protocols, management of dysrhythmias, telemetry, titration of insulin drips, use of rapid response/code teams.
- Additional Information: Traveler must pass a telemetry exam prior to starting, with two attempts allowed. The unit supports interdisciplinary collaboration, including IV teams, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, and pharmacy. The assignment includes a required orientation of 20 hours. Floating as needed to other units is mandatory. The local rule restricts candidates to those living more than 50 miles from the facility. The start date is 10/12/2026, with an end date of 01/11/2027.
