Job Summary:
Medical Surgical with Telemetry (MS TELE) Registered Nurse (RN) position available in Madison, WI. This role involves providing care to adult orthopedic trauma patients within a Magnet-designated facility renowned as one of the nation's leading hospitals and referral centers. The position requires proven inpatient acute care experience, the ability to pass strict telemetry assessment tests, and flexibility to float as needed for optimal patient coverage.

Job Details:

  • Location: Madison, WI
  • Schedule: Nights; 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with weekend rotation (1 in 3) and holidays as needed. Willing to consider 4x12 shifts if traveler is interested.
  • Required Qualifications: RN license, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA, minimum of 2 years of inpatient acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty, pass/fail telemetry assessment with strict criteria (adult and pediatric exams), including identification of lethal rhythms, 80% passing score, up to three attempts with a review course if needed.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge nurse experience, trauma level II experience, patient ratio experience, charting system experience with Epic, and prior community hospital or inpatient RN experience.
  • Additional Information:
    • Focus on adult orthopedic trauma patients, with occasional neurosurgery overflow.
    • Responsibilities include managing IV lines, invasive procedures, and special equipment such as epidurals, PCA pumps, peripheral nerve catheters, and heparin/insulin drips.
    • Clinical support includes IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, interpretation services, rapid response teams, and unit secretary.
    • Pass/Fail testing is a prerequisite, and strict testing criteria apply. A telemetry assessment must be passed prior to starting.
    • Minimum experience requirement: 2.0 years in acute inpatient RN care in relevant specialty within the last 3 years.
