Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with Urology/Nephrology experience for a night shift assignment requiring an active IL RN license and at least 2 years of experience.

Details

  • Med Surg unit specializing in Urology/Nephrology within an acute care hospital
  • 25-bed unit with an average daily census of 23 patients
  • Night shift, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (1845-0715)
  • Works every other weekend
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required to other Medical Surgical units or nearby affiliate facilities
  • May work in a Charge RN capacity as needed
  • Cerner EMR experience required
  • Patient ratio of 1:6

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required (in hand or in application process)
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of medical/surgical nursing experience required
  • Previous Charge RN experience required
  • Experience in MS/Tele and Med/Surg settings required
  • Experience with Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management and renal failure care required
  • IV therapy/phlebotomy skills required, including blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting IVs
  • Heparin administration experience required
  • Respiratory care experience required, including chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and portable oxygen tank use
  • Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac required
  • Telemetry remote monitoring and Rapid Response Team experience required
  • Cerner charting system experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Level I trauma experience preferred
  • AHA or Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to a urology/nephrology med/surg population, including kidney transplant patients
  • Work within a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 562 staffed beds
  • Scrubs may be any solid color
  • Parking permit required at no cost, arranged during orientation
  • Floating is required for all travelers, either within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
  • Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
  • Previous permanent or PRN employees of the hospital system must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
  • RTO of more than 5 non-holiday days requires facility approval
  • Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
  • First-time travelers considered if they have a solid foundation in med/surg nursing with 2+ years of experience
  • Travel pairs are not accepted
