Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Stepdown/PCU (IMC) position at a Level I trauma teaching hospital, requiring an active IL RN license and at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Details

  • Stepdown/PCU (Intermediate Care) unit within an acute care hospital
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (1845-0715), with ability to accommodate 4x12 schedules if preferred
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
  • Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required at time of application
  • BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Stepdown/PCU/IMC experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Level I trauma experience preferred
  • Travel nursing experience required
  • Skills in IV therapy, central/peripheral/PICC line management, and blood product administration
  • Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator management, chest tube care, and ABG interpretation
  • Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Experience with cardiac and vasoactive drip management (titration a plus)
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Work in a 562-bed Magnet-designated, Level I trauma teaching hospital
  • Provide direct care for patients with cardiac, neurological, and post-surgical conditions requiring close monitoring
  • Scrub color: any solid color permitted
  • Free parking available with permit obtained during orientation
  • First-day orientation is virtual and completed at home, with required modules due by 4:00 PM CST
  • Up to 5 non-holiday RTO days may be requested
  • Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
  • Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
  • Previous permanent or PRN employees must have been separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Travel pairs are not accepted
