Travel Med/Surg Registered Nurse – Acute Care Float Pool in Fort Wayne, Indiana

Overview

As a Travel Med/Surg RN, you will provide comprehensive nursing care in a dynamic acute care hospital while floating to other medical units as needed. You will care for a diverse patient population and support a collaborative clinical team dedicated to excellent patient outcomes and patient-centered care.

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: 3 weekend shifts in 4 weeks
• Shift Duration: 12 hours
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,020 - $2,130
• Start Date: 9/21/2026
• Duration: 22 weeks
• Orientation: Structured onboarding with hospital orientation, nursing orientation, and Epic training
• Charting System: Epic
• Floating: May float to other medical units based on need

Job Requirements

• Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license
• BLS certification through AHA
• At least 1.5 years of nursing experience in Level I, Level II, or tertiary care
• At least 1 year of experience in a large hospital setting (450+ beds)
• Strong Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented acute care environment

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population
• Complete assessments, care planning, and ongoing patient monitoring
• Administer IV therapy and manage heparin and insulin drips as ordered
• Support patients with feeding tubes, feeding pumps, wound vacs, chest tubes, and other common Med/Surg needs
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to promote positive patient outcomes
• Use clinical equipment and documentation tools confidently, including IV pumps, telemetry, Pyxis, and Epic
• Care for patients with conditions such as COPD, diabetes, CHF, pneumonia, sepsis, stroke, and other acute or chronic illnesses
• Adapt quickly to changing unit needs while maintaining professionalism, compassion, and strong bedside nursing skills
