Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Urology and Nephrology on a Medical Surgical Floor. Located in an acute care hospital with a Level I trauma designation, this role involves providing specialized care to adult patients with urological, nephrological, and transplant-related conditions. The position requires delivering clinical excellence in a busy, fast-paced environment with a focus on patient safety and quality outcomes.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights (4x12 or 3x12 hours, 1845-0715), minimum 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), active Illinois RN license, 2 years minimum experience in medical-surgical nursing, including telemetry, cardiovascular, and emergency response skills; experience with Cerner charting system; proficiency in genitourinary/renal case management, IV therapy, medication administration including Heparin, respiratory management with CPAP/BiPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula, post-operative kidney transplant care, and urinary catheter management.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in trauma level I facility, LTAC, or community hospital settings; prior travel experience preferred.
- Float: Float to other Medical Surgical units within scope may be required.
- Additional Information: The unit discharges and re-admits approximately one-third to half of the floor daily, managing a patient census of about 23. It handles a variety of diagnoses including urological illnesses, kidney transplants, and common medical/surgical conditions such as pneumonia, UTI, and cellulitis. Candidates should be prepared to work every other weekend, with up to 7 patients on rare occasions, and participate in a 32-hour orientation.
- Compliance & Start Instructions: Candidate must arrive with valid licensure, complete required documentation and modules within one week of start date, and be prepared for virtual orientation on day 1. Floating within hospital or to nearby affiliates is mandatory.
