Description

American Traveler is hiring a Medical Surgical Oncology RN for a hospital position requiring 2 years of acute care experience and a CO or Compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a Medical Surgical Oncology unit with 36 staffed beds
  • Rotating day and night shifts (3x12 hours), various days of the week
  • Weekend shifts required per unit needs
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within scope, including to sister facilities based on facility needs
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 on day shift and 1:5 on night shift, with potential to flex based on staffing needs
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Navy scrub color required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (CO or Compact) required
  • BLS certification required
  • Chemo (ONS/ONCC) and OCN certifications preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required
  • Trauma Level II hospital experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Experience working in environments with flexible staffing ratios required
  • Comfortable managing patient ratios of 1:3, 1:4, and 1:5
  • Skilled in IV therapy, port access and management, and central/PICC line care
  • Experience recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies (ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis, spinal cord compression)
  • Experience with chemotherapy administration and monitoring preferred
  • Skilled in symptom management for oncology patients (nausea/vomiting, neuropathy, altered mental status, constipation/diarrhea, dysphagia, edema)
  • Knowledge of psychosocial care including advanced directives and hospice care
  • Experience with chest tube care, colostomy/ileostomy management, foley catheter insertion, and wound care preferred
  • Familiarity with isolation precautions, PPE, and neutropenic precautions
  • Experience with IV push narcotic administration and PCA pump management
  • Post-surgical care experience preferred
  • Oncology skills checklist required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care within an inpatient oncology setting
  • Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout periods where RTO is not allowed
  • No blocked scheduling requests permitted
  • Completion of all facility-specific modules required within the first week of assignment
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Previous UCHealth employees must disclose name used during past employment for eligibility verification
  • Candidates who applied to UCHealth's internal travel or perm positions within the last two years are ineligible for consideration
  • Travelers who completed a full year on assignment must wait at least one year before rebooking
  • Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are accepted at the local bill rate
