Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Oncology RN for night shift at a Level II trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2 years of acute care experience and a CO or compact RN license.

Details

  • Inpatient Medical Surgical Oncology unit within a 36-bed hospital setting
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
  • Various days of the week with weekend shifts required per unit needs
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 (day) and 1:5 (night), which may flex based on staffing and unit needs
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Floating required within scope to meet facility needs, including to sister facilities
  • No on-call requirements

Requirements

  • Active CO or Compact RN license required
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required
  • Level II Trauma experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Oncology certification (OCN, ONS/ONCC) preferred but not required
  • Chemotherapy certification preferred
  • Experience with IV therapy, port access/management, and central line/PICC line care
  • Experience recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies (ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis, spinal cord compression)
  • Experience with chemotherapy administration (continuous infusion, IV push, oral) preferred
  • Skilled in symptom management for oncology patients (nausea, neuropathy, altered mental status, dysphagia)
  • Comfortable working in environments with flexible staffing ratios
  • Wound care, chest tube management, and ostomy care skills preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to inpatient oncology patients including chemotherapy administration and symptom management
  • Manage oncologic emergencies and post-surgical care as needed
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract
  • RTO not permitted during specific blackout periods including early September, late October through early November, late November through early December, and late December through early January
  • No blocked scheduling requests permitted
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
  • Candidates previously employed by UCHealth or its affiliates must disclose this information
  • Candidates who applied to UCHealth's internal travel jobs or perm staff within the last two years are not eligible for consideration
  • Returning travelers who completed a full year on assignment must wait at least one year before rebooking
  • Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility may be considered
