Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RN for a float pool position requiring an active MA license and Level I trauma hospital experience.

Details

• Float pool position supporting 15 medical-surgical units within a 600-bed facility
• Specialties include neurology, cardiac, bariatric, general medicine, general surgery, gyn, gu, hips and joints, oncology, and transplant liver, kidney, and vascular care
• Patient ratios average 4:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
• Unit-specific procedures include 12 lead EKGs, lasix drips, blood transfusions, and telemetry monitoring
• RT manages ventilators while RN administers nebulizers
• 12-hour rotating day/night shifts with a mix of 8 and 12-hour shifts across a 4-week schedule
• Every other weekend and holidays required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Float assignments may change with as little as 2 hours notice and can shift every 2-3 weeks
• No set schedule provided, though RTO is honored
• Weekly orientation held every Monday barring holidays

Requirements

• Active MA RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA)
• Minimum 3+ years of related RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Level I trauma hospital experience required
• Teaching hospital and specialty area expertise preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Basic computer skills and ability to navigate web-based applications required

Additional Information

• Assigned to the medical-surgical float pool supporting multiple specialty units
• Provide direct patient care including telemetry monitoring and medication administration
• Any color scrubs permitted
• Parking may cost up to $43/day for day shift workers, though public transportation is available
• Required to complete Tele/ECG and Medication competency testing
• Required vaccinations include COVID (plus booster) and Flu, with medical exemptions allowed
• Maximum of 3 days RTO allowed; no RTO approved during holidays
• Returning employees/travelers must complete a 6-month break between any facility within this health system
• Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius, with no local candidates accepted
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position
