Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring at least 1 year of acute care nursing experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care Med Surg/Tele unit (7N Ortho/Uro/Neuro) in a Level 2 trauma facility
• 29-bed unit with nurse:patient ratios of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
• Patient population includes ortho trauma, vascular, urology, neuro-spine, OBGYN oncology, and acute medical admissions
• RNs titrate drips (Heparin, and occasionally nitro, Bivalirudin, Cardizem, insulin) following a prescribed nomogram
• Dedicated telemetry techs monitor strips 24/7; RNs are not required to read their own strips
• Charge Nurse takes an assignment on all shifts, with house supervisor coverage around the clock
• Nursing Assistants support the unit with varying ratios by shift
• Respiratory equipment includes CPAP, BIPAP, and High Flow Oxygen Therapy, with RT support available (no ventilators)
• Uses Cerner EMR, currently transitioning to Epic
• Night shift schedule from 1900 to 0730
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• No call or standby requirements
• Floating required to other adult medical/surgical nursing units
• No self-scheduling; block scheduling used based on staffing needs

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience required
• 2 current professional references required: 1 from a supervisor and 1 from a peer or supervisor

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across a diverse case mix including orthopedic, vascular, urology, neuro-spine, and oncology patients
• Unit orientation includes 1 day of computer training and 1-2 days of precepted floor orientation
• Scrubs may be any color as long as they are clean and professional
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, with an adjusted pay rate
• Former permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission and require facility approval to return
