Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a comprehensive cancer center, requiring 2+ years of high acuity Med/Surg Tele experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Comprehensive Cancer Center inpatient units with 318 acute care beds, including 36 specialized oncology beds
• Units are specialized by cancer diagnosis including BMT, Acute Leukemia, Hematology, Medical Oncology, PCU Oncology, Gynecological Oncology, Urology, Colorectal, and Surgical Oncology
• Floating required to MedSurg and PCU Oncology units, including Corrections Healthcare
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:30
• 12-hour Day/Night rotating contract option available, with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
• Staffing ratios are 1:3 to 1:4 for PCU and 1:4 to 1:5 for Med/Surg Tele
• Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• OCN and ONS/ONCC certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of current, consistent high acuity Med/Surg Tele or higher experience within the same specialty required
• Acute care experience must be current within the last 12 months
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and Rapid Response/Code team response required
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE required
• Experience with chemotherapy administration and monitoring preferred
• Experience with chest tube management, HFNC, and non-invasive airway management preferred
• Experience with craniotomy and CVA care preferred
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and titration preferred
• Experience with mastectomy and skin graft care preferred

Additional Information

• Provide medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care to oncology patients across specialized units
• Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
• First week of orientation is Monday through Friday day shift, followed by five bedside orientation shifts across weeks 2 and 3, then independent practice
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted
• Former employees eligible for travel assignments after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel assignments at this location
• RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to state requirements
• First-time travelers are required to have prior travel experience for this assignment
