Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for an oncology unit requiring 2+ years of acute care experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg Oncology unit caring for patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy administration
• Patient population includes soft tissue malignancy cases requiring diagnostic services, chemotherapy, and symptom management
• Also manages symptom control secondary to disease progression and comorbidities
• Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Rotating 12-hour day/night shifts (3x12) scheduled every 4-week period based on department need
• Uses B450 GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of current acute care RN experience required, specifically within the specialty applied for
• Epic EMR experience required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience accessing and managing ports
• Experience with arterial line and central line management
• PICC line management and IV insertion skills required
• Experience assisting with chest tube insertion/removal
• High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) management experience
• Ability to interpret ABGs
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Administers chemotherapy and manages oncology-related symptoms and complications
• Provides cardiac monitoring and emergency response for telemetry patients
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Previous travel experience preferred but not required; candidates should be willing to learn and grow their nursing practice
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6+ months
• Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel assignment at this location
• RTO must be submitted with contract and built in, limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
