Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift assignment requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

• 24-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center hospital
• Patient population includes cardiac, respiratory, and neuro diagnoses in a fast-paced observation setting
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with potential surge ratios up to 1:7-8; CNA ratio of 1:12
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division - CMC Main, Mercy, LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Possible low census call, with call-back up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Massimo monitors in all rooms
• Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT, on-site/virtual hospitalist coverage, and 24/7 intensivist

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• At least 6 months of Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
• General med/surg skillset including care of tubes/drains, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes
• Minimum 12 months of core work experience in the specialty unit, with recent experience within the last year
• At least one professional reference within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

• Provide direct patient care for a fast-paced med/surg tele population with a variety of cardiac, respiratory, and neuro diagnoses
• Facility orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
• Navy scrub color required
