Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Med/Surg-Tele unit requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• 241-bed Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center hospital
• 24-bed Med/Surg-Tele unit with average daily census of 24
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation on a 6-week schedule cycle
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, up to 1:7-8 during surge staffing
• CNA to patient ratio of 1:12
• Fast-paced observation unit treating cardiac, respiratory, neuro, and other diagnoses
• Remote telemetry monitoring supported by tele techs
• On-site hospitalist coverage during day shift, virtual coverage in evenings/overnight
• 24/7 intensivist and RT support available
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Massimo monitors in all rooms
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division - CMC Main, Mercy, LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Possibility of low census call-back, up to 3am for nights and 3pm for days

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Minimum 6 months EPIC EMR experience required
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
• General med/surg skillset including tube/drain care, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide bedside nursing care for a diverse patient population with cardiac, respiratory, and neurological conditions
• Charge nurse available as a resource and may carry a patient assignment
• No unit HUC; phlebotomy and IV/VAT team support available
• Facility-provided orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with missed hours added to the end of the contract
• Navy scrub color required

• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for the travel position
• Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after a permanent position before returning
