Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN - Med/Surg Tele for a fast-paced unit requiring 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • 24-bed Med/Surg/Tele unit within a 241-bed Level 3 Trauma teaching-affiliated hospital
  • Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
  • Patient population includes cardiac, respiratory, neuro, and other various diagnoses in a fast-paced observation setting
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6 (up to 1:7-8 during surge staffing), CNA ratio of 1:12
  • 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week, shift start time 6:45pm
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • Possibility of low census call, with call-back up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
  • Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division - CMC Main, Mercy, LCH) per scope of practice
  • Schedule cycle every 6 weeks
  • Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist (onsite days, virtual overnight), 24/7 intensivist, and remote tele monitoring

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license required
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
  • EPIC EMR experience required, minimum 6 months
  • Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
  • General med/surg skillset required, including care of tubes/drains, IV starts, blood products, and wound care/dressing changes
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg/Tele unit with a diverse case mix
  • Utilize Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Masimo monitors in all rooms
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Free parking available
  • Positive unit culture noted by facility
  • Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
  • First-time travelers welcome to apply
  • Local candidates not accepted; 50-mile radius rule applies
  • Previous perm employees must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning
