Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position at a Level 1 Trauma academic medical center, requiring 1 year of experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work on a 4A Med/Surg Overflow unit within an 885-bed Level 1 Trauma academic medical center
• 8-bed unit with an average daily census of 8 patients
• Patient population includes general medical cases with some cardiac, pneumonia, UTI, chest pain, and fluid overload diagnoses
• RN to patient ratio of 1:4 and CNA to patient ratio of 1:8
• 12-hour night shift schedule from 1900 to 0700, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend (EOW) rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required to Rehab, 4 Ardmore, 10 Reynolds, 9 Reynolds, 5 Ardmore, Burn-10 North, and Throughput Unit
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing system
• Telemetry monitors present on unit; no monitors in patient rooms
• 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist support available

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent core experience in Med/Surg Tele or related unit specialty required
• Travel experience preferred
• Skilled in PCA management, surgical drains, wound care, and telemetry/cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Comfortable learning Cardizem/Amiodarone drip management if not already experienced
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips during their shift
• CNA support includes vital signs, blood glucose checks, hourly safety rounds, and ADL assistance
• Charge nurse typically floats but may occasionally carry a full patient assignment
• Phlebotomy support available for peripheral blood draws; RNs start their own IVs
• Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Free parking available on site
• Unit culture described as friendly and academic in nature
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be considered
• Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position
• Travel experience preferred, though first-time travelers may be considered
