Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN - Med/Surg Tele for a night shift contract role requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• 241-bed Level 3 Trauma teaching-adjacent hospital with a Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designation
• 24-bed Med/Surg Tele unit with an average daily census of 24
• Fast-paced observation unit treating cardiac, respiratory, neuro, and other diagnoses
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with potential surge ratios up to 1:7-8
• CNA to patient ratio of 1:12
• 12-hour night shifts (1900-0700), 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Possibility of low census call-back, up to 3a for nights
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division - CMC Main, Mercy, LCH) as needed, within scope of practice
• Unit support includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT, on-site/virtual hospitalist coverage, 24/7 intensivist, and remote telemetry monitoring via tele tech
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Massimo monitors in all rooms

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Minimum 6 months of Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and administration of non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
• General med/surg skillset required, including care of patients with tubes/drains, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide bedside care for Med/Surg Tele patients with cardiac, respiratory, and neuro diagnoses
• Two-day departmental orientation in addition to standard new employee orientation
• Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
