Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 12-hour night shift contract requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

• 24-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center hospital
• Patient population includes cardiac, respiratory, and neuro diagnoses in a fast-paced observation setting
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with possible surge ratios up to 1:7-8
• CNA to patient ratio of 1:12
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700) at 36 hours per week
• EPIC EMR used, with Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Massimo monitors in all rooms
• Remote telemetry monitoring supported by a dedicated tele tech
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Low census call possible, with call-back up to 3am for nights and 3pm for days
• Floating required within Region 3, including Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, Mercy, LCH), within scope of practice
• Schedule cycle runs every 6 weeks

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Tele RN experience required
• At least 6 months of EPIC EMR experience required
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
• General med/surg skillset required, including care of tubes/drains, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes
• One professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously in a permanent position

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive Med/Surg and Telemetry nursing care within a fast-paced observation unit
• Supported by CNAs (1:12 ratio), charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT, on-site/virtual hospitalist coverage, and 24/7 intensivist
• Charge nurse may carry a patient assignment but remains available as a staff resource
• No HUC support on the unit
• Orientation includes NEO and 2 days of departmental training
• Travelers required to work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 RTO days may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract
• Navy scrub color required
