Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN - Med/Surg Tele with 18+ months of Med/Tele experience for a 12-hour night shift contract at a Level 3 Trauma teaching-adjacent hospital.

Details

• 32-bed Med/Surg/Tele unit with average daily census of 32
• Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (flu/pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases
• RN patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing up to 1:7-8
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Possible low census call-back, up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division - CMC Main, Mercy, LCH) per scope of practice
• Uses Epic EMR
• Unit equipped with virtual nursing technology (VNO) supporting med witnessing and patient monitoring
• Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Schedule cycle repeats every 6 weeks

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
• Skills required include cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for Med/Surg/Tele patients including cardiac monitoring and wound/drain management
• Collaborate with a supportive, patient-centered unit team known for strong teamwork
• Travelers will work 75% of scheduled holidays
• Up to 6 RTO days may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract
• Navy scrub color required

• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
