Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele night shift position requiring a NC or compact RN license and 18 months of Med/Tele experience.

Details

• 32-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center facility
• Average daily census of 32 patients with common diagnoses including stroke, respiratory illness, renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care
• RN patient ratio of 1:5-6, with possible surge ratios of 1:7-8
• 12-hour night shifts from 1900-0700, 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle
• EMR: Epic
• Unit utilizes virtual nursing technology with 10 cameras to assist with med witnessing, monitoring, and admission/discharge tasks
• Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• Possibility of low census call-back, up to 3am for nights and 3pm for days

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit including cardiac monitoring and wound/drain management
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary support team including CNAs, charge nurses, and 24/7 RT and hospitalist coverage
• Utilize virtual nursing technology to support patient monitoring and documentation
• Facility holds Level 3 Trauma designation and is a Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
• Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 RTO days may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract
• Navy scrub color required
