Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position on a 12-hour night shift unit requiring NC or compact RN license and prior Med/Tele experience.

Details

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a Level 3 Trauma teaching-adjacent hospital, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
• 24-bed unit with an average daily census of 24
• Fast-paced observation unit treating cardiac, respiratory, neuro, and various medical/surgical diagnoses
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with potential surge ratios up to 1:7-8
• CNA to patient ratio of 1:12
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 36 hours per week, shift start at 6:45pm
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Possibility of low census call, with call back required up to 3am for nights and 3pm for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Massimo monitors in all rooms

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Minimum 6 months of Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and administration of non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
• General medical/surgical skillset including care of patients with tubes/drains, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Support team includes CNAs, charge nurse (resource role, may carry patient assignment), phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 respiratory therapy, on-site dayshift hospitalist with virtual overnight coverage, 24/7 intensivist, and remote telemetry monitoring via tele tech
• No unit HUC support
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers required to work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
• Navy scrub color required
• Free parking available
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for travel rate
• Previous AHSE facility employees must be separated from any permanent position for at least 1 year before eligibility
