Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN - Med/Surg Tele for a night shift position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in a 32-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit within a 241-bed Level 3 Trauma teaching-affiliated facility
• Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (flu/pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases
• RN patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing up to 1:7-8
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• Possibility of low census call-back, up to 3a for nights
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division - CMC Main, Mercy, LCH) within scope of practice
• Uses Epic EMR, IV pumps, med dispensing systems, cardiac monitors, and virtual nursing camera technology (VNO)
• Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage, plus telemetry monitoring techs

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Skills required include cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drip management (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for a Med/Surg Telemetry population including stroke, renal, and respiratory illness cases
• Facility is a Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
• Unit utilizes virtual nursing support for second RN witness verification, patient monitoring, and admission/discharge assistance
• 2-day departmental orientation in addition to standard new employee orientation
• Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 RTO days may be approved, excluding holidays, with contract extension required if hours are not met
• Navy scrub color required
