Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN - Med/Surg Tele for a night shift contract role requiring NC or compact RN licensure and prior Med/Tele experience.

Details

• 32-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center hospital
• Average daily census of 32 patients
• Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (flu/pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing ratios up to 1:7-8
• LPN ratio of 1:5-6 with surge up to 1:7-8, and CNA ratio of 1:10
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• Possible low census call-back, up to 3am for nights and 3pm for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage, plus telemetry monitoring techs
• Unit utilizes virtual nursing technology (VNO) with 10 cameras for second RN witness, monitoring, and admission/discharge support
• Uses Epic EMR, IV pumps, automated med dispensing, and cardiac monitors

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Provide direct medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care within a collaborative, patient-centered unit culture
• Facility requires travelers to work 75% of designated holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any unmet contracted hours added to the end of the assignment
• Scrub color required: Navy
