Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele RN for a Level 3 Trauma facility, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• 32-bed Medical/Surgical-Telemetry unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center facility
• Average daily census of 32 patients
• Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (flu/pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing ratios up to 1:7-8
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Possible low census call, with call-back up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, and Central Division facilities including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Utilizes Epic EMR, IV pumps, med dispensing systems, patient monitors, and virtual nursing camera technology (VNO)
• Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Telemetry monitoring/tech support available

Requirements

• Active RN license, NC or Compact, required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg-Tele RN experience required
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• Epic EMR experience required
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for a Med/Surg-Tele population including cardiac rhythm monitoring and drip management
• Work alongside CNAs, charge nurses, and specialty support teams including IV/VAT and phlebotomy
• Virtual nursing support (VNO) available for medication witnessing, patient monitoring, and admission/discharge assistance
• Two days of departmental orientation provided in addition to standard NEO onboarding
• Expected to work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
• Navy scrub color required
