Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

This position offers a guaranteed 48 hours per week, commencing on a specified start date. The role is based in a Surgical Specialty Unit located in Overland Park, KS.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 20 private
• Patient Ratios: 4:1 total patient care; 5:1 with a patient care tech
• Unit Staffing: 1 tech and typically 4-5 nurses on the floor
• Equipment Utilized:
  • Alaris IV Pumps
  • CADD Epidural Pumps
  • Alaris PCA
  • Pyxis Medication Dispensing Machine
  • Telemetry
  • EKG
  • Bladder Scanners
  • Wound Vacs
  • Capnostream Machines
  • SCD Pumps
• Documentation System: Medi Tech
• Scheduling Requirements: Every 3rd weekend, two Mondays and Fridays per 4-week scheduling period

Role Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will possess the necessary Med-Surg experience, with advanced skills in post-operative care. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Ostomy management and irrigation
• NGT placement and management
• Foley catheter placement and maintenance
• Central line management
• JP drain and wound management
• IV starts and blood administration
• Nutritional supplementation, including TPN and G/J tubes

Qualifications

• Experience Required: Minimum of 1 year of Med-Surg experience
• Certifications: BLS Certification is required

Dress Code

Required uniform consists of royal blue tops paired with black or royal blue bottoms.
