Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift travel assignment requiring an active TN or compact RN license and 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience.

Details

• 36-bed Med Surg unit within a hospital setting
• Patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Required to work 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week block
• Floating required, with travelers floating alongside core staff
• Documentation completed in Meditech
• Unit equipment includes PD cyclers, Welch Allyn vital signs carts, Hoyer lifts, Broda chairs, and Alaris IV pumps
• Patient population requires care for wounds, tracheostomies, ostomies, drains, chest tubes, strokes, and seizures
• Some patients require dialysis or PCA pumps, with Heparin as the only drip medication used
• Provides post-operative care for amputations, ostomies, drains, chest tubes, oral surgeries, and wound vacs

Requirements

• Active RN license (TN or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med Surg nursing experience required
• No gaps in work history exceeding 90 days within the past 12 months
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (no Canadian SSN accepted)

Additional Information

• Perform bedside shift reporting and conduct safety checks every 1-2 hours with a focus on communication and responsiveness
• Follow HAI prevention protocols including CVC and Foley monitoring with standard precautions
• Adhere to fall prevention protocols and 100% medication scanning, including controlled substances
• Scrub colors accepted: Navy, Blue, White, Black, Gray, and Ceil Blue
• Join a supportive, youthful team with experienced charge nurses and leadership to ensure a smooth transition
• Travelers are treated as core staff and held to the same standards of accountability and recognition
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates are not accepted
