Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring TN or compact RN licensure and NIHSS certification.

Details

• Med/Surg unit within a hospital setting with 36 beds
• Patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5
• Patient population includes wound care, tracheostomy, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, stroke and seizure patients, with some requiring dialysis or PCA pumps
• Post-op care includes amputations, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, oral surgeries, and wound vacs
• Only IV drip administered is Heparin
• Uses equipment including PD cyclers, Welch Allyn VS carts, Hoyer lifts, Broda chairs, and Alaris IV pumps
• Documentation completed in Meditech
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Required to work 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week block
• Floating required to support core staff as needed
• Unit is supported daily by a secretary and PRN techs

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Skilled in basic patient assessments and care for wounds, tracheostomy, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, stroke, and seizure patients
• Experience with dialysis and PCA pump management preferred
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required

Additional Information

• Provide bedside shift reporting and conduct safety checks every 1-2 hours with a focus on communication and responsiveness
• Participate in HAI prevention practices including CVC and Foley monitoring with standard precautions
• Follow fall prevention protocols and 100% medication scanning, including controlled substances
• Scrub colors accepted include navy, blue, white, black, gray, and ceil blue
• Join a supportive and experienced team with strong charge nurse and leadership presence
• All travelers treated as core staff with equal accountability and recognition
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• No gaps in work history exceeding 90 days within the past 12 months
