Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg-Neuro position requiring TN or compact RN licensure and BLS certification for a night shift assignment.

Details

  • Work on a 20-bed Neuro Med/Surg unit within a hospital setting
  • Patient ratio of 6:1
  • Tech support available on day and night shifts, with unit secretary coverage 7a-7p
  • Uses IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse ox machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and iMobile communication technology
  • Documentation completed in Meditech
  • Schedule consists of three 12-hour night shifts per week (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Required to work 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
  • Contract labor staff float first, based on rotation among contract labor staff

Requirements

  • Active RN license (TN or compact) required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Med/Surg experience required
  • Skilled in prioritizing care and multitasking
  • Ability to start IVs and perform basic wound care
  • Experience maintaining surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
  • US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (no Canadian SSN accepted)
  • One professional reference required

Additional Information

  • Provide attentive, compassionate care to patients and families, including bedside shift reporting
  • Foster personal connections with patients and involve family members in the plan of care
  • Facility holds Comprehensive Stroke Center, ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, and Certified Chest Pain Center designations
  • Required dress code includes navy scrub tops and bottoms
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates will not be considered
  • No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months permitted
