Registered Nurse (RN) - Antepartum/Labor and Delivery

Unit Information

This position is within a specialized Antepartum and Labor & Delivery unit located in Austin, TX.

• Number of Beds: 24
• Staffing: 26 staff members including RNs and clerical support
• Patient Ratios: 3:1 and 4:1, occasionally 2:1 based on patient acuity
• Equipment: Various medical equipment for maternal care
• EMR: Meditech and CPN
• Permanent Positions Available: Yes

Position Overview

This role is focused on providing care to expectant mothers in both Antepartum and Labor & Delivery settings. The unit employs a team-oriented approach to ensure safe and effective maternal care.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess the following certifications:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• AWHONN (Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, candidates with prior experience in Labor & Delivery or Antepartum care are highly desirable.

Typical Procedures

The following procedures are commonly performed within the unit:

• Non-stress tests
• Management of hyperemesis
• Administration of insulin and heparin drips
• Magnesium administration

Work Environment

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong teamwork and communication skills, contributing to a supportive and collaborative unit culture. The shift rotations will include nights and weekends.

Dress Code

All staff members are required to wear navy blue scrubs. Please avoid wearing inappropriate attire while on duty.
