Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a high risk Labor & Delivery position requiring 3-5 years of high acuity experience and circulating/newborn care skills.

Details

• Work in a high risk, high volume Labor & Delivery unit with 31 rooms/beds
• Average daily census of 15 patients per day with 500-600 deliveries per month
• 4 operating rooms for cesarean deliveries
• Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
• Utilizes electronic fetal monitoring and Epic EMR
• Day shift schedule (4x12 hours), 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
• Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Float required to Post Partum/Antepartum units and sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
• Required certifications: BLS and NRP
• Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a high acuity, high pace L&D environment required
• High risk L&D experience strongly preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must be able to function as Baby Nurse during delivery and provide newborn care until transfer to postpartum
• Must be able to circulate for C-sections
• Must be able to provide newborn care including eye prophylaxis, Vitamin K injections, and newborn assessments
• Experience with high risk medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
• Current supervisory references required, covering 1 year within the last 3 years
• Current Nursys verification required

• Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Pre-approved time off considered on a case-by-case basis
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Local radius rule of 50 miles applies for former Providence facility employees
• Former permanent staff of other Providence facilities (non-Swedish) may return as travelers after a 3-month separation, provided they live outside the 50-mile radius
• May be required to float between sister facilities within the health system
