Description

American Traveler is seeking a Labor and Delivery RN for a high-risk OB unit requiring 2 years of recent L&D experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Work in a Labor and Delivery unit specializing in high-risk OB care
  • Facility performs 200-300 births per month
  • 1:1 patient ratios
  • Evening (3x12, 15:00-3:00) or Night (3x12, 3:00-15:00) shifts available, with possible 11am-11pm or 3am-3pm start times
  • Shifts will be primarily day-based or night-based with advance notice given for changes
  • Every other weekend required
  • On-call required on scheduled days if shift is cancelled
  • Floating required to Mother/Baby Unit (MBU) and PSCU based on unit needs, and possible floating to sister facilities including Milwaukie, Newberg, Portland, Hood River, Willamette Falls, Seaside, and Saint Vincent
  • Epic EMR used and required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Compact license must be in hand at time of submission)
  • OR RN license required
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Experience with high-risk antepartum and antepartum care
  • Skilled in fetal monitoring, including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Experience assisting with vaginal deliveries and circulating for C-sections
  • Experience administering medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
  • Experience with postpartum care including hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension management
  • Experience with sterile vaginal exams and non-stress tests (NSTs)
  • Must have a vehicle for this assignment
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care across labor, delivery, antepartum, and postpartum stages
  • Assist with high-risk deliveries, hemorrhage/shock management, and neonatal resuscitation as needed
  • Perform newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, and thermoregulation care
  • Any color scrubs accepted; OR/L&D scrubs are provided by facility
  • No parking fee at this facility
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former Providence permanent employees must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not be within 50 miles of the facility
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius to be eligible for travel rates, though local candidates may be accepted at a lower bill rate
  • Must be willing to commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • All time-off requests must be submitted upfront during the application process, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
  • Only one active submission to a Providence facility is allowed at a time
