Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring NM or compact RN license and ICU-specific critical care skills.

Details

  • Work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with a mix of neuro and surgical ICU patients
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 18:30 to 7:00, with option of 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Weekend shifts required
  • May float to Med-Surg, Stepdown, PCU, ER, or CVICU with a cap of 4 patients while floating
  • Brief unit orientation provided prior to floating assignments

Requirements

  • Active NM or compact RN license required (must be obtained prior to start if pending)
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 1.5-2 years of ICU nursing experience required
  • Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care
  • Ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and ABG interpretation skills required
  • Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Skilled in cardiac and vasoactive drip titration, continuous IV sedation, and procedural sedation monitoring
  • Experience with CVA/acute stroke management required
  • EVD, ICP monitoring, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, and post neurosurgery management skills preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to ICU patients including neuro and surgical cases
  • Perform infection prevention practices including isolation precautions and PPE use
  • Manage patients with cardiac dysrhythmias and endocrine/metabolic conditions such as IV insulin protocols
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
  • Former staff must wait at least one year before returning as a traveler
