Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring 1.5+ years of ICU experience and an active NM or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital setting
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 18:30-7:00)
  • Option of 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Weekend shifts required
  • Floating required to like units within scope, with brief unit orientation provided

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NM or compact) required prior to start
  • Minimum 1.5-2 years of ICU experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, NIHSS, and BLS (preferred)
  • EPIC charting experience preferred
  • Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Respiratory skills required: chest tube assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator management, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and ETT/NT suctioning
  • Renal skills required: management of chronic/acute renal failure
  • Medication management skills required: continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Neurological skills required: CVA/acute stroke management; EVD, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, ICP monitoring, and post neurosurgery management preferred
  • GI surgery experience required
  • Professional skills required: infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, phlebotomy, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multisystem organ dysfunction/failure management, and IV insulin protocols
  • Experience in Neuro ICU or Surgical ICU preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to ICU patients including ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
  • First time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
  • Former staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
  • No travel pairs or groups accepted
  • Limited RTO auto-approved at time of submission, with no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
