Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an ICU night shift position requiring 2 years of ICU experience and NM or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Work in the Intensive Care Unit, including neuro and surgical ICU settings
  • Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts from 18:30 to 07:00
  • Option of 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Floating required to like units within scope as needed, with brief orientation provided
  • Weekend shifts required

Requirements

  • Active NM or compact RN license required prior to start
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Certifications required: ACLS, NIHSS; BLS preferred
  • Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care
  • Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs
  • Respiratory/thoracic skills including chest tube assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator management, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and suctioning
  • Experience managing chronic/acute renal failure patients
  • Medication management skills including continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Neurological care experience including CVA/acute stroke management; EVD, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, ICP monitoring, and post neurosurgery management preferred
  • GI surgery care experience
  • Infection prevention and isolation precaution/PPE skills
  • Phlebotomy skills
  • Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction/failure patients
  • IV insulin protocol management experience
  • Epic charting experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive critical care nursing across neuro and surgical ICU patient populations
  • Complete onsite orientation modules, averaging 4-6 hours for RNs
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility as locals are not accepted
  • Previous staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
  • No travel pairs or groups accepted for this position
