Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring at least 1.5-2 years of ICU experience and an active NM or compact RN license.

Details

  • ICU unit within a hospital setting
  • Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts from 18:30-7:00
  • Option of 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Floating required to like units within scope, as needed based on facility needs
  • Weekend shifts required

Requirements

  • Active NM or compact RN license required prior to start
  • Minimum 1.5-2 years of ICU experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, NIHSS
  • Preferred certification: BLS
  • Preferred experience with EPIC charting system
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care
  • Skilled in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, BiPAP/CPAP management, and suctioning (ETT, NT)
  • Skilled in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and procedural sedation monitoring
  • Skilled in CVA/acute stroke management, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and IV insulin protocols
  • Preferred experience with EVD, ICP monitoring, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, and post neurosurgery management
  • Experience in Neuro ICU and/or Surgical ICU settings preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to critically ill ICU patients requiring advanced monitoring and interventions
  • Receive brief orientation when floating to other units
  • Onsite orientation includes completion of non-billable training modules
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • No travel pairs or groups accepted
  • Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be considered; locals are not accepted
  • Former staff must wait at least one year before returning as a traveler
