ICU Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering expert nursing care to critically ill patients, managing complex medical conditions, and ensuring the highest level of safety and comfort for all patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) setting.
- Monitor and assess patient conditions, interpreting vital signs and clinical data.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as prescribed.
- Titrate drips for cardiac medications, insulin, and sedation as necessary.
- Utilize advanced equipment such as ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
- Conduct assessments and updates as needed, including interpreting cardiac strips and telemetry readings.
- Assist and supervise Nurse Aides and other support staff as necessary.
- Engage in patient and family education related to care and recovery.
Work Environment
- Total of 33 beds with an average daily census of 16 patients.
- Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:2-3 for adults, ensuring adequate attention and care.
- Floating may occur to the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and occasionally Medical-Surgical units with similar ratios.
Qualifications
- Current and valid RN license.
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
- Experience in ICU or critical care settings is preferred.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Schedule and Orientation
- Shifts: 0630-1830 and 1830-0630.
- Orientation will include a 1-shift departmental specific training.
- Weekends required: Every other weekend.
- Minimum of 2 holidays required during the contract period.
Additional Information
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments.
- Specific requirements in terms of fingernail policy and RN exam pass criteria.
- Travelers are incorporated into self-scheduling while core staff maintains priority scheduling.
- RN must respond to call-ins within 30 minutes if required.
