Travel ICU RN Job Requirements

  • Active Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand before the start of the assignment
  • At least 2 years of recent travel nursing experience
  • At least 1 year of professional nursing experience, with strong preference for previous ICU or critical care experience
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications
  • Ability to provide safe, effective nursing care across critical care and assigned float areas
  • Comfort working night shifts and adapting to changing patient-care needs
  • Flu vaccination required in accordance with facility policy; medical and religious exemptions may be considered
  • Must meet applicable smoke- and nicotine-free workplace requirements

ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients throughout each shift
  • Assess patient conditions, identify changes in status, and promptly escalate concerns
  • Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring responses and documenting outcomes
  • Coordinate critical care with providers, nurses, ancillary staff, patients, and families
  • Maintain accurate, timely electronic health record documentation
  • Support emergency interventions and evidence-based ICU nursing practices
  • Float to Med-Surg or other inpatient units as needed, consistent with clinical competency and orientation
  • Promote patient safety, infection prevention, and continuity of care during handoffs
