Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) – Travel Contract in Columbus, Ohio
Experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) needed for a 13-week travel nursing contract in Columbus, Ohio. Join a high-acuity Emergency Department team caring for a diverse patient population across adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,830–$1,930
- Location: Columbus, Ohio
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Start Date: November 16, 2026
- End Date: February 15, 2027
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts, approximately 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Weekend Rotation: Every other or every third weekend
- Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatric patients
- Typical Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 nurse to 3–4 patients
- Documentation and Equipment: EPIC and Pyxis
- Orientation: Facility orientation provided
Emergency Department RN Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Emergency Department RN or emergency room nursing experience
- Active Ohio RN license or valid compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications required
- Experience in a Level I Trauma Center preferred
- Experience with stroke-certified and STEMI-certified facilities preferred
- Strong assessment, prioritization, and critical-thinking skills in a fast-paced emergency nursing setting
- Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Two professional references required, including at least one manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
- Ability to float as needed and complete Ohio fingerprinting and credentialing requirements promptly
Emergency Department Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, efficient, and compassionate emergency care to a broad patient population
- Perform rapid triage, focused assessments, reassessments, and timely interventions
- Recognize and manage dysrhythmias, acute illness, trauma, stroke symptoms, and STEMI presentations
- Administer emergency medications, IV vasopressors, continuous sedation, and other high-acuity therapies as ordered
- Care for ventilated patients and patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure
- Perform and monitor procedural sedation and assist with emergency procedures
- Obtain 12-lead EKGs, initiate and maintain IV access, and support blood product administration
- Document patient care accurately in EPIC and collaborate with providers, respiratory services, pharmacy, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
- Deliver patient and family education while maintaining a calm, professional presence during high-stress situations
