Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a Stepdown Unit. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care while supporting a variety of critical and intermediate care needs.

Position Details

• Unit: CVU 5E
• Shift Type: Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Patient Capacity: 18 beds
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:4; 1:3 for post-surgical patients within the first 24 hours

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will provide care to patients requiring intermediate care, specifically those downgraded from CVICU. Responsibilities include:

• Titration of medications including Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Nicardipine, Epinephrine, and Cardizem for blood pressure management.
• Collaboration with a healthcare team that includes hospitalists and intensivists to ensure patient safety and quality care.
• Monitoring and interpreting telemetry strips, with remote telemetry technicians available for support.
• Providing leadership in coordinating care, with the charge nurse typically not assigned a patient load.
• Floating to all same and lower levels of acuity as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience with the specified patient population.
• Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Nail Policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas.

Orientation and Training

New hires will receive tailored orientation and training specific to the unit, which will last 1-2 shifts depending on individual experience.

Schedule and Additional Information

• Shifts: 0630-1900 or 1830-0700
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
• Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy Blue
