Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a stepdown unit specializing in both oncology and medical-surgical care. This position requires a strong commitment to patient care and collaboration with a diverse healthcare team.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: PCU Oncology (5 North)
• Primary Patient Population: Adult Oncology PCU and Trauma PCU patients
• Number of Beds: 18

Shift Details

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Shift Hours: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
• Schedule: Every other weekend with self-scheduling options

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a stepdown setting.
• Monitor and manage patient conditions, including titration of medications such as insulin and Cardizem.
• Administer chemotherapy and other common medications as needed.
• Engage in hourly rounding and bedside shift reporting to enhance the patient experience.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including nursing assistants, case managers, social workers, and educators.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required; previous oncology experience preferred, but strong PCU experience is acceptable.
• Certifications:
  • ACLS – Required
  • BLS (AHA) – Required
  • ONS/ONCC Certification – Preferred but not required
• Education: Current RN licensure is required.

Additional Information

• Floating: Travelers may float to other Med/Surg and PCU units at the same level of care.
• Orientation: Two days of unit orientation will be provided.
