Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a high-volume Emergency Department position requiring Level 2 trauma center experience and multiple specialty certifications.

Details

  • Level 2 trauma center and comprehensive stroke center emergency department with over 100,000 visits annually
  • 101-bed unit with patient ratios typically 4:1 for medical patients, up to 7:1 for behavioral holds
  • Support staff includes techs in the cardiac monitoring unit and internal processing area, triage techs, and unit clerks on days and nights
  • Uses Baxter pumps and GE monitors
  • Documents in Cerner
  • Night shift schedule from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
  • Every other weekend required, no block scheduling commitments
  • No floating outside the ED, but must be flexible to float to all sections within the department

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact)
  • Required certifications before start date: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, and NIHSS
  • ENPC certification required within 90 days of hire
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year in an ER setting
  • Prior experience in a Level 2 trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000+ visits) required
  • Previous HCA experience preferred
  • Strong teamwork mentality with the ability to coach and give real-time feedback
  • Flexibility to work across all areas of the ED
  • US SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

  • Deliver patient-centered emergency care following AIDET principles and maintain updated patient boards throughout each visit
  • Work within a team known for strong collaboration and a welcoming culture

  • Navy scrubs required as part of the dress code
  • Attendance policy provided on day one
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility, as no local candidates are accepted
