Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Description

We are seeking a qualified Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in emergency care, with a commitment to delivering exceptional patient experiences.

General Information

• Number of Beds: 101
• Patient Ratios: 4:1 typically for medical patients; up to 7:1 on emergency department behavioral holds.
• Unit Staffing Description: Emergency department technicians, triage staff, and unit clerks available for support.
• Type of Equipment: Includes Baxter pumps and GE monitors.
• Documentation System: Cerner.
• Scheduling Requirements: Every other weekend commitment required; scheduling must meet departmental needs.
• Floating Policy: No floating outside of the emergency department, but flexibility to float within all sections of the emergency department is required.
• Patient Experience Requirements: Adherence to AIDET, demonstrating respectful behavior, and maintaining patient communication throughout the visit.

Qualifications

• Certifications:
  • ACLS before starting date
  • BLS before starting date
  • PALS before starting date
  • TNCC before starting date
  • CPI before starting date
  • NIHSS before starting date
  • ENPC within 90 days of hire
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in an emergency room setting, preferably within a Level 2 trauma center or comprehensive stroke center with high volumes exceeding 100,000 visits annually.
• Skills:

  • Ability to provide real-time feedback and coaching
  • Flexibility to work in all areas of the emergency department

Advanced Skills & Procedures

Specific advanced skills are required, and various emergency procedures will be performed within the unit.

Dress Code

Required uniform includes navy scrubs.

Unit Guidelines and Policies

Attendance policies and other unit-specific guidelines will be provided on the first day.
