Unit Specifics

• Number of Beds: 101
• Patient Ratios: typically 4:1 medical, up to 7:1 for ED behavioral holds
• Unit Staffing: Techs available for cardiac monitoring and internal processing; unit clerks on duty both days and nights
• Type of Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
• Documentation System: Cerner
• Scheduling Requirements: Every other weekend; flexible scheduling to meet departmental needs
• Floating Policy: Must be open to floating within all sections of the Emergency Department
• Patient Experience Standards: Adhere to AIDET principles, provide respectful care, and keep patients informed throughout their visit

Hiring Profile

• Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years as a registered nurse, including at least 1 year in an emergency department setting. Previous experience in a Level 2 trauma center or comprehensive stroke center preferred.
• Skills: Teamwork mentality and ability to provide real-time coaching and feedback
• Flexibility: Willingness to work in all areas of the ED
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS (all required prior to start date), ENPC within 90 days of hire

Required uniform: Navy scrubs
